4. Unusually Unsafe Recall- Volkswagen Jetta and Beetle

Volkswagen has a history of manufacturing safe vehicles, but even they are not immune to their safety problems. Several models from the Volkswagen line have cropped up on the NHTSA list in October and call attention to real issues.
Jetta 2011-2013 models manufactured March 1, 2010, to November 30, 2012, and 2012-2013 and Beetle and 2012-2013 vehicles manufactured March 1, 2011, to July 31, 2013 are involved in this recall. Rear trailing arms that may have been previously deformed by a rear or side-rear collision may have reduced durability. This can lead to possible loss of control and an increased possibility of a crash.
