11. 1939 Ford Anglia
The Ford Anglia was designed and manufactured by Ford UK. With American cars taking off, Ford decided to try and gain a foothold in foreign markets and built the Anglia to be a small car to deal with high fuel costs and congested cart paths. The Anglia was a simple vehicle with few features. Most were painted black and styled like most cars from the 1930’s. There were standard and deluxe models, with the deluxe models having better instrumentation and running boards. A 933 cc four-cylinder engine was used to power the small vehicle. Production of the Anglia didn’t pick up until after the war, and a closure of Ford’s factory during the war hurt sales, but it succeeded in making Ford an established worldwide company once the factory re-opened.
