16. Ford F-Series (First Generation)
The first generation F-Series trucks were the first trucks designed after the war by Ford. Rather than use a car chassis as a basis for their truck design, Ford built their first dedicated truck platform. This generation of the F-Series was produced between 1948 and 1952. The first F-Series had a flat one-piece windshield and integrated headlights. The vehicle was also offered with a windshield wiper (operated by a foot pump), passenger side windshield wiper and sun visor, and passenger side taillights. There were various engine options for the F-Series truck, most of which were flathead V-6 engines producing between 95 and 110 horsepower. The F-Series paved the way for what would become a very profitable side of Ford’s vehicle line, with the thirteenth generation of the Ford F-Series trucks being the most recent version of their pick-ups.
