41. FIAT 500 Topolino 1936–1948 Italy
The Fiat 500 was a compact automobile manufactured in Italy by Fiat. At the time of its debut in 1937, it was one of the smallest cars in the world. Despite its size, it still managed to get 13hp and tops speeds of near 53mphs. The best part was its fuel efficiency, achieving nearly 40mpg. The little guy packed a 569 cc four-cylinder, side-valve, water-cooled engine. It’s tiny body with two round headlights make it look quite mousey, which is where the name comes from; ‘topolino’ being Italian for ‘little mouse.’ Several models were made, with slight variations, including a coupe and convertible. Over half a million Topolinos were sold over twelve years of production.
