55. Jeep Cherokee 1974-present United States
The Jeep Cherokee was a full-sized sports utility vehicle produced in 1974 by Jeep, a division of the American Motor Company. The Cherokee was similar to the Wagoneer which preceded it, but was marketed as a sportier version of Jeep’s station wagon. Originally a two-door body with fixed side rear windows, a four-door model was made available in 1977. While the original may have been a modified Wagoner, the Cherokee line became a leader of SUVs and an icon for Jeep. The Grand Cherokee, produced by the Jeep division of Chrysler, and its variants are some of the most popular SUVs ever made. They are unrepentantly big and boast a more comfortable ride than many SUVs.
