83. Pontiac Grand Am 1973-1975 United States
The Grand Am is a mid-sized and later a compact car produced by the Pontiac division of General Motors, which derives its name from two previous Oldsmobile models: the Grand Prix and the Trans Am. The Grand Am offered the luxury and comfort of the Grand Prix and the performance of a Trans Am. The car was marketed as having European intrigue and American ingenuity. Sales of the Grand Am slumped dramatically during the 1970’s gas shortage, but the vehicle rebounded with popular success in the 1980’s. The later generations of Grand Ams really defined Pontiac’s image and name. The line was discontinued in 2005, though the cars are still sought after in the used-car market.
