10. Chrysler Crossfire
(2004–08)
One knows when a new car model has failed to live up to expectations when a major car manufacturer lists excess inventory on Overstock.com or equivalent Websites on the Internet. This is what occurred with the Chrysler Crossfire during the second year of production (2005). The company based the auto design on pre-existing ideas on the Mercedes-Benz SLK and failed to achieve an appealing design with the art deco pattern. With a fairly steep pricing point for the mid-2000’s at $35,000 (starting), many consumers were turned off from purchasing the car from the start of its production life. Despite these turn-offs, the auto did perform at or above average for other similar GT sports cars, but this was not enough to sustain the life of the model. Chrysler ceased manufacturing the vehicle in 2008, after a five year production run.
