(1991–97)

The Subaru SVX was originally intended to be the car that the “new” Subaru was going to be built upon in the early 1990s. The car featured a 3.3 liter, 230 horsepower, 24-valve, V6 engine, and also included an all-wheel drive capability which was a decent combination for new model releases in the timeframe.  Unfortunately, the high price point for the vehicle combined with a very awkward design resulted in a lukewarm market reception for the SVK. Despite some of the major technical advances made with the SVX, it was one of the company’s larger disappointments during the history of the manufacturer. As a result, the SVX production line was closed after a seven year run in 1997.
