12. BMW E36 M3
Overseas, the BMW E36 M3 was released in 1992 to critical acclaim. The E36 M3 was released in the U.S. in 1995. Due to emissions regulations the E36 M3 that was available in the U.S. had a smaller engine, capable of 240 horsepower instead of the 316 horsepower found on foreign models. A five-speed manual transmission was the only available transmission option. The Vehicle was available as either a roadster or a coupe, later a convertible model was released. The E36 chassis M3 was touted as one of the best handling cars of the 1990s in independent tests by Car & Driver. Known for its precise handling and balance, the car is popular among circuit racers and track enthusiasts.
