9. Mercedes Benz M Class

It is not often that you hear about law enforcement using Mercedes produced automobiles; however, the police department in Tuscaloosa is documented as using the Mercedes Benz M Class SUV as a special test during the 2005 calendar year. Based on a special relationship with the manufacturer who produces the autos in Vance, Alabama, the Tuscaloosa Police Department employs the vehicle in small numbers in order to provide test data back to the company. Current models of the auto come with several engine options to include: 3.5 liter, V6, 4.6 liter Bi-turbo V8, 5.5 liger Bi-turbo V8, 2.1 liter I4 turbo-diesel, and the 3.0L V6 turbo-diesel. Although the test was considered a success, the overall cost of the M-Class Mercedes has precluded major adoption of the vehicle by police departments across the United States.
