2. Chevrolet Silverado 1500 6.2
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 6.2 houses a 6.2 liter V-8 beast under the hood, which produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The engine shares a few choice pieces of tech with the Corvette Stingray, such as it’s aluminum construction, variable valve timing, cylinder deactivation, and direct injection. Even though the Silverado weighs close to three tons, the powerful engine still manages to launch it to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 14.1 seconds. With all that power the gas mileage is low, but not terrible. The eight-speed transmission does a good job of keeping the revs low, resulting in less gas consumed and an EPA estimated 16 mpg city / 21 mpg highway.
