10. Stability Control
Stability control systems are becoming more and more common in vehicles but should be in every vehicle that comes off the assembly line. The system is a form of traction control that will help the driver maintain control of the vehicle in the event one or more tires lose traction with the road. Snowy or rainy conditions can cause a tire to lose traction and can result in loss of control or an accident, but these systems monitor the speed of the tires and the moment the system notices a tire spinning, it pulses the brakes to the tire while the other tires continue to drive the car, preventing loss of control. Many systems also reduce engine power when a slip is detected to help maintain control. The system will correct over and under steer scenarios, and much like traction control will help the car get out of snow or muddy conditions if stuck. A U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study concluded that one third of all fatal car accidents could be prevented with this technology, further proving this is a must have feature.
