The Mercedes-Benz SL Class is a popular and very fuel efficient sports car. The auto gets a fuel efficiency rating of 20 MPG (city) and 27 MPG (highway), and still preserves a large amount of power for the driver. The base engine in the SL400 is a 3.0 liter twin-turbo V-6 that is rated at 329 horsepower and combined with rear-wheel drive and a seven-speed automatic transmission. If choosing to upgrade to the SL550, the engine is larger (a 4.7 liter twin-turbo eight cylinder) with a 449 horsepower rating. The auto can go from zero to 60 MPH in 4.6 seconds, and the SL-Class has a maximum speed of 155 MPH.
