The basic design of the Nissan Frontier has been sold on the market since 2005. The current model year edition of the popular truck is a very fuel efficient truck with a 19 MPG (city) and 23 MPG (highway) overall gas mileage rating. The stock engine in the truck is a 2.5 liter four cylinder rated at 152 horsepower, and consumers can choose to upgrade to a 4.0 liter V-6 rated at 261 horsepower. The base transmission in the auto is a six-speed manual with the option to upgrade to a five-speed automatic when buying the vehicle new. Rear-wheel drive is the default option for the Frontier; however, all-wheel drive is also available as an upgrade on the vehicle. The top overall speed of the Frontier is 108 MPH, and the vehicle can go from zero to 60 MPH in 7.6 seconds.
