13. Volkswagen Tiguan GTE Concept
It’s about time the Volkswagen Tiguan was given an overhaul and judging by the concept unveiled at the Detroit auto show, the replacement is right around the corner. The Tiguan GTE Concept looks like a rugged version of the Audi Q5, which is a welcome change from the old look. The concept uses a plug-in hybrid system with a 148 horsepower gasoline engine boosted by twin electric motors for all-wheel drive. All in all the system produces 221 horsepower and can hit 60 mph in 6.4 seconds. According to VW the concept can be driven up to 20 miles on electric power alone. The new Tiguan also highlighted its off-road ability, with 9 inches of ground clearance and all terrain tires.
