12. 1981-1985 Volvo 240 GLT Turbo Wagon
The Volvo 240 GLT Turbo was initially built for the racing circuit, but Volvo created the Wagon so consumers could enjoy the power of the upgraded 240. The added Garrett Racing turbocharger gave the 240 GLT Wagon 127 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. The horsepower levels don’t seem like much, but for such a small car, it was a lot. The zero to sixty time was 8.9 seconds, impressive for it’s time. The suspension was upgraded to increase the vehicle’s handling, allowing the 240 GLT to manage curves and have more control under hard driving conditions. What makes the 240 GLT such a great sleeper is that the engines are easily upgraded, further increasing the power of the simple looking station wagon.
