On May 25, 2013, a 1953 Ferrari 340/375 MM Berlinetta ‘Competizione’ was sold for $12,812,800 at RM Auctions in Lazio, Italy. The sale made the auto one of the most expensive cars sold at auction. The car is powered by a 4,494 cc overhead camshaft V-12 engine rated at 340 bhp and is supported by triple Weber 40 IF/4C carburetors, an independent front suspension with transverse leaf springs, four-speed manual gearbox, and four-wheel drum brakes. The wheelbase of the car is 102 inches, and it has the distinction of being one of three works 375 MM cars that were entered in the 1953 ’24 Hours of Le Mans’ event.
