The classic 1977 American crime comedy Smoky and the Bandit starring Burt Reynolds featured one of the most famous Pontiacs ever. The 1977 Trans Am which Reynolds (The Bandit) drives in the film became the defining car of an era. The sexy T-topped muscle car with a phoenix emblazoned on the hood, made the car an instant favorite. Reynold’s cool demeanor didn’t hurt, either. Pontiac provided two Trans Ams for Smoky and the Bandit. The film made the Trans Am forever an American favorite. Sales skyrocketed after the movie’s debut. Burt Reynolds himself owned one based on the car from the film. His recently sold at auction for $450,000.
