8. The DeLorean from Back to the Future
Even at the time of filming Back to the Future, the DeLorean DMC-12 (known simply as DeLoreans as it is the only model car the company ever made) was not a popular car. The coolest thing it had going for it was its gullwing doors. But the 1985 feature film changed that for good. In the film Dr. Emmet Brown fits the car with a nuclear-powered flux compacitor and converts the car into a time machine. Throughout the film and its subsequent two sequels, Brown and Marty McFly travel across 130 years of Hill Valley history, changing the course of history and then seeking to repair it. The DeLorean became an instant icon of one of the most popular movie franchises ever.
