The 1962 AC Shelby Cobra is one of the top classic cars of all time. Starting in 1961, AC Cars started to use the 2.6 liter Ford engine in the company’s automobiles, and auto designer Carroll Shelby asked to have a car built with a V-8 engine. The Ford 4.2 liter V-8 HiPo was available to install in the automobile, and the 1962 AC Shelby Cobra prototype was built with the engine. A would go on to export the cars to Shelby where he would install the engine and gearboxes to finish work in his Los Angeles shop. The first 75 of the Cobras produced included the 4.3 liter V-8 engine, and he would go on to further upgrade the engines to a 4.7 liter that saw much success on the track. Today, the AC Shelby Cobra is one of the most sought after sports cars for collectors in both the United States and Europe.
