The 2016 Ford Explorer is significantly improved when compared to the first and second generation of the iconic American SUV. It is also one of the more popular SUVs with third row seating sold today. The stock engine of the Explorer is a V-6 rated at 290 horsepower, and consumers can also choose to upgrade to a turbo-four rated at 280 horsepower, and a turbo V-6 rated at 365 horsepower. The autos are sold standard with front-wheel drive, and the V-6 model can be upgraded to a ‘Sport’ package that comes with all-wheel drive as well as a sport-tuned chassis. The overall fuel efficiency rating of the auto is 16 MPG (city) and 22 MPG (highway) with a top overall speed of 123 MPH. The Explorer can go from zero to 60 MPH in just 6.0 seconds which is significantly faster than past models of the SUV.
