5. Datsun 510
Often called “the poor man’s BMW,” the Datsun 510 was a series of the Datsun Bluebird sold from 1968 to 1973. The 510 gained notoriety for Nissan’s rallying successes outside of Japan and paved the way for Nissan sales internationally. The version of the 510 released in America was equipped with a 1.6 liter four-cylinder engine, with a power output of 96 horsepower and a top speed of 100 mph. The 510’s performance combined with affordability made it popular among enthusiasts for years, to this day the 510 remains a collectable vehicle. Another reason for the 510’s popularity was that the parts were easily interchangeable, making it easy to upgrade the engine or engine components and increasing the power of this reliable sports car.
